Almuñécar has major redevelopement plans, of which this is just the start:
2005-06 Redevelopment Paseo del Altillo and Acera del Mar on Playa Puerta del Mar
the development on two levels incorporates an underground car park
and a rather attractive large sculpture
The bird-of-paradise flower (Strelitzia reginae) or crane flower - everywhere in October.
Almuñécar is one of the few places remaining that still give tapas with drinks
The fishing beach - the remnant of old Almuñécar.
